Hi! I’m Kazım.
Based in the Netherlands, I spend my days working in data and analytics. This blog is where I write about some of the topics I explore, try out new-to-me concepts, and share things I find interesting.
Why I write here
Writing forces me to test whether I actually understand a topic or just think I do. That is the main reason this blog exists, but it has turned into a few other things along the way: a personal archive I come back to when I need something I figured out a while ago and have since forgotten, a place to share what might save someone else a headache, and a way to keep my side projects from living forever in a folder called “wip”.
The site itself runs on Quarto and Netlify, and I wrote up how it fits together.

My professional background
I’ve been working in data and analytics since 2009, mostly across customer and process analytics in several industries (market research, retail, telco, insurance, telematics). Alongside that, I’ve worked through a few courses and programs; they’re in my learning log.
Most days, I find myself somewhere between a business question and a data source that was rarely designed to answer it. I explore the data, figure out whether there’s a meaningful pattern there, and turn the findings into something clear and useful. And no matter which part of the process I am on, the same question runs in the background: can I automate this so ‘future me’ saves some effort?
Outside of work
Long walks paired with audiobooks, a slow attempt at Dutch, an even slower one at reading poetry, and motorcycles (don’t currently own one, but fully intend to again).
